Job Summary
The Production Engineer II is responsible for the design, operation, optimization, and regulatory compliance of onshore oil and gas production facilities in the DJ Basin, Colorado. The candidate will work in a team environment to help oversee and execute a wide variety of production related projects. Additional interaction with reservoir engineers, geology, and asset personnel will be necessary to optimize asset value. The candidate will also need to collaborate with EH&S, Land, and Regulatory.
 
Essential Functions
  • Work as part of an operational team that includes engineers, foremen, operations, construction, and regulatory.
  • Support production operations from a technical, operational, and cost standpoint. 
  • Proactive in Environmental, Safety, and Health standards and practices.
  • Collaborate across completion and production teams in regard to new horizontal well completion and production operations.  Obtain cost estimates.  Make sure regulatory requirements are met.  Support field operations in execution.  Complete necessary post job reporting including internal and external.  Document necessary or required items.  Ensure regulatory filings are submitted.  Participate in thorough lookbacks and make recommendations on improvements and efficiencies.
  • Review offset well mitigation and safety prep requirements, make recommendations, and ensure work is done timely and efficiently.
  • Evaluate historical production to identify and recommend opportunities for production enhancement and minimizing lease operating expenses.  Evaluate past workover jobs.
  • Identify, package, implement capital projects and value enhancements.  In addition, implement expense workovers and P&A jobs
  • Work with operations to evaluate and recommend artificial lift optimization opportunities. 
  • Assist with well planning, design and capital costs for D&C. Economic evaluations for any type of project.
  • Communicate with manager, team members, and members of other teams within the asset.  Ensure accurate and timely reporting of critical activities.
  • Evaluate projects and prepare cost comparisons.
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering or similar required
  • 5+ years industry related experience with emphasis on production operations
  • Niobrara/Codell experience desired
  • Open to spending time in the field learning Prairie’s operations
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills to handle multiple tasks with changing and conflicting responsibilities and accountabilities 
  • Must be self-motivated and an enthusiastic team player capable of completing tasks with minimum direction of others to meet sensitive deadlines and goals
  • Tolerant of changing priorities from a big picture point of view

  • Majority of work will be out of the Denver office and with some work out of the field locations as needed.
 
Physical demands
  • May require occasional lifting of heavy objects.
  • Physical ability to perform routine maintenance on oil and gas wells as required.
